Thinking About Travelling Solo?

Here's the thing about solo travel advice - most of it assumes you have an Instagram-worthy setup, unlimited budget, and the confidence of someone who's never had to ask a stranger for help reversing out of a tight spot while other campers watch and judge your technique.

I'm definitely not that person.

I'm Kenzie. Solo traveller, chronic illness wrangler, and the slightly bemused owner of a very old, very quirky camper trailer that seems to have opinions about which roads it's willing to travel down.

When I started out, I had absolutely no clue how to reverse the damn thing without taking out someone's awning. I figured it out the messy way, which, let's be honest, is pretty much the only way that actually sticks.

Maybe you're trying to pack for your first free camp and wondering how people fit their entire lives into these tiny spaces. Maybe you're planning something longer and slightly terrified about what happens when you inevitably get lost somewhere with no phone reception.

Or maybe you're just wondering how you're supposed to manage basic human needs without running water for days at a time (spoiler: it's all about lowering your standards and embracing wet wipes).

Still Figuring It Out?

Good. So am I, most of the time, and that's actually part of what makes solo travel work. No one's keeping score of whether you're doing it "right." You can work out what your version looks like, even if it involves crying in a Bunnings car park occasionally.

This is the page I wish I'd found before I took off on my first trip - the one that would've told me it's okay to have no idea what you're doing, and that most of the best discoveries happen when your original plan goes spectacularly wrong.

You can follow along as I keep figuring it out myself, one questionable roadhouse meal, red dirt detour, and camp toilet experience at a time.
